A quick update on my Sketchbook and Zbrush

Just dumping a few pictures on sculpting the beautician. The character is serving as a tutorial to learn sculpting in zbrush.

 Finally 2 illustrations I haven't posted, I was tempting to do more character sketches so i came up with a Old Zorro and Cesar "The Dog Whisperer" Milan.

Now I'm flooded with freelance work... and... Atom Pancakes.

Sunny days, busy days

Hello guys,

Things are pretty busy here, trying to get the creative juices flowing and being pro-active nonetheless... I will update you in a few things in my life.

Unlikely other countries in Europe, Portugal is snow free... yay!! ohh and it is carnival so nothing better to dress up as your favourite character.



a weather like this calls for creativity.

So I carried on sculpting the beautician character.

 





The re-topology was done so this is getting closer to the final sculpture but with no clothes. I am using this character as a means of improving my modelling skills.


Meanwhile, things have been cooking at Atom Pancakes, and we are happy to inform that we are pre-producing a new short animation. Things have been quite over the studio's blog, but I will update you when new work surfaces, featuring some of my designs.

I had finally the guts to enter CG Society's forum and ready to get some feedback, I have also entered a mini-challenge to start things up.

In terms of freelance work things are going well, but not able to post it here. 

Also while learning sculpture, I found very helpful to learn anatomy, to improve my character work and sculptures. I will post here the sketchbooks thus far.

Quiet Time means Productivity!

To be honest to you all guys, this blog has been very quiet for quite some time now. Therefore I decided to kick things up, with progress on my beautician character.

From where I left it I carried on modelling the rest of the body.

 With this initial sculpting and with the topology not really in my favour I decided to begin a new process in my pipeline. Retopology, it means having a dense polygon mesh and change the topology to better accommodate the details. While the first time I have done this process I used Zbrush own retopology tools, I decided to have a go at using topogun for the same end. 

So far I have done the torso.




 In terms of freelancing work, It is going very well, with the character pretty much modeled, awaiting some texturing, and all the mechanisms to be animated ( Skinning and Rigging). Unfortunately,, I am not able to share anything, for the moment. You wait.

Beautician Sculpt Quick Update

As you may know I am modelling my beautician character in a different character modelling pipeline. My aim is to learn a more effective way to get my characters quickly to 3D with a better result. Therefore I have been looking into sculpting the character first, retopologise it and then bake the maps onto the character.

So far I have been playing around in Zbrush sculpting the character. I have to say it has been amazingly funny.

Quick Update Professionally

I have recently applied for a freelance job here in Portugal and got accept to produce firstly a character in 3D, then an animation for a possible TV Series. Although I wont be able to inform you too much on the project, I am able to tell you for what company is and a few keywords for the project.

The company I will be working with is Doremi Sounds, a music company which specializes in music for babies, which boost their interactivity, imagination and mood.



The project revolves around the words babies, cuteness, learning and colourful worlds. So as soon i can advance with showing some work, I will post it on here.

On another note, I have been trying to broaden my knowledge in different software to facilitate my character pipeline and to achieve better results. So lately, I have been playing bodypaint 3D, a great software for texturing, in a 3d view and also Topogun, for re-topology of meshes that have been sculpted in a sculpting program like Zbrush. These 2 programs, definitely will improve my works and completely change my workflow.

What I have been up to ...

... I have to say that I have been highly motivated lately to produce work, therefore I have a few projects I am working on.

Firstly, I would like to say that I am waiting for this CG test for a company so I can possibly be employed by them. Meanwhile, I feel the urge to be highly active, therefore I have been doing some 2D and 3D work, so my skills improve.

On the project side I have continued working on my personal project, The Master of Animals, producing some character sketches for it.



This sketches helped me loosen up a bit and get back to character work.

Alongside this work, I have been working on my Zbrush Skills, therefore I have been modelling the Beautician Character I have designed a few years back.

So far I just created a base mesh for him with Zspheres.



and began adding the bigger form on the overall body


One last update is on Atom Pancakes, we have began a new project for a competition. Although I cannot give anymore information, I can assure you when we have significant work we will be posting it.
