Unit 03 - Maya: Modelling Hospital Chair

The chair was another object featuring my scene, and I can say it was a more confusing to do than the bed because I kept messing around with beveling, but in the end I think I achieved what I wanted. However, I will be using more than 1 chair in my scene, the chair will be the same but I will alter its textures.

Chair Design
Relating with the chair design, it was based in a Victorian Chair and after a bit simplified, while modeling the object I found some faults in the design that I corrected.

Unit 03 - Maya: Texturing Hospital Bed

After Modeling the bed and laying out the UVs, I took the Uv Snapshot into Photoshop and start to add some texture, I used my own tile texture from Phil's Classes , I just swapped the colour.

Unit 03 - Maya: Modelling Hospital Bed

I started to model and laying out the UVs for 1 of the objects palced in my room, eventually I wont use the whole object but maybe half as it wont be shown, and will save me some render time.

UV Map & Grid:

While laying out the UVs, I found the curved top a really challenge to do so I decided to go for auto-mapping I hope it wont affect much when applying textures. Apart from there It was a good exercise once again on UVs.

First Render:

I rendered it using a white testing lambert, but now I will try with some textures.
I will post progress on this piece really soon.

Relaxation before starting the hardwork

As I have been working throughout my holidays, as we can't leave anything for the last week and start to rush all of it. After the hard work, an artist has to relax as well and nothing better than a white landscape to do it. Yes It was the second wave of snow in Rochester this year, so I took the chance to have some fun outside and breathe some fresh air while throwing some snowballs :)
It was really fun, and helped me to clear my mind and gave me even more motivation to continue this project.

Some Constructions in the Snow

It was really fun to actually do what you only see in films. In the case of the 1st picture, some kind of E.T....

Unit 03 - Digital Concept "Abandoned Hospital"

In my opinion the black and white version looks better as it looks more dramatic but I gave it a go in colour to help me with textures when creating the scene in 3D, I tried to lower a lot the lightness and create a lot of contrast.
Now, Just start model it and texture it in Maya.

P.s. Also some of the materials may be altered in the final scene for examples wood for metal.

Unit 03 - Digital Concept Black & White

I finished now the black & white version of the concept art, and im ready to add some colour, I added some small details like spider webs and grains on the floor to add the abandoned look a bit more. As it can be seen the light is coming out of rooms and casting on the hallway. I added some textures on the walls to give the look of wallpaper fading or falling.

Jpegs can be quite tricky as the quality lowers a lot. as whole the image looks like this and is ready to add some colour.
